ADHD Help

Having ADHD can be a bit like having a superpower — one that sparks amazing levels of creativity and energy. But ADHD can also make it difficult to focus and concentrate, ignore distractions, and control impulses. The good news? Attention skills can be strengthened with the right kind of ADHD help.

At LearningRx, we know that focus and concentration are skills that can be trained. Brain training can also target other cognitive skills tied closely to ADHD, like memory and processing abilities. By targeting these skills, we strive to help learners with ADHD make the most of their unique talents!

Our approach to ADHD help is backed by multiple research studies, as well as 35+ years of experience training clients with hyperactive ADHD, inattentive ADHD (formerly known as ADD), and combined ADHD.

Past clients with ADHD have seen across-the-board improvements in cognitive skills, including an average gain of 3.2 years in sustained attention skills. Our clients have also reported significant improvements in other areas, including relationships with friends and family, oppositional behavior, and self-esteem — all through the power of LearningRx brain training!

(Results based on studies and surveys of past clients. You or your child may or may not achieve the same results.)

Brain Training & ADHD

Personalized Training Plans for Learners with ADHD

Every learner with ADHD has a unique cognitive profile. In fact, two people with ADHD could have trouble focusing for completely different reasons!

To deliver the right kind of ADHD help, we start with a Brain Skills Assessment. This allows us to identify the brain skills with the most room for growth in each client.

For learners with ADHD, a brain training plan could focus on broad attention skills. Often, we will focus on specific attention skills, such as how to stay focused for long periods or how to avoid mid-task distractions. We can also work on strengthening skills like short-term memory, long-term memory, and mental processing speed, which can be tied to ADHD.

While these skills are all common targets for learners with an ADHD diagnosis, we may focus on other skills for individual learners. It all depends on the results of each client’s Brain Skills Assessment!

How Brain Training Works with ADD & ADHD

Our brain training programs use targeted mental exercises to improve cognitive skills. Each exercise is designed to target a specific skill or set of skills — the same way personal training targets specific muscle groups. Our programs use a wide range of activities designed specifically for attention skills, as well as other skills connected to ADHD.

By making each session just challenging enough, we help learners make gains in these areas. Over time, as training exercises become more and more challenging, cognitive skills become stronger and stronger.

During each session, a brain trainer offers immediate feedback and encouragement, keeping the learner engaged. This can be especially helpful for kids and teens with ADHD, who might otherwise be easily frustrated or distracted.

Brain Training or ADHD Tutoring?

Finding ADHD help for kids and teens can be challenging. Many parents start by hiring a tutor. But even with tutoring, grades will often stay the same. Brain training offers a different approach to ADHD than tutoring — and it comes with much different results.

Tutoring is designed to deliver information. This can be helpful if students have fallen behind because they’ve missed classes or have a less-than-exceptional teacher. But for tutoring to work, students need strong cognitive skills to process tutoring content. If ADHD students haven’t built these core skills, they will still have trouble learning with a tutor.

Brain training is designed to improve these core learning skills for students with ADHD. Instead of repeating information that students heard in class, we build the skills students need to process and retain classroom content in the first place. After brain training, students with ADHD may learn more quickly and easily — no matter who’s teaching the material!
