LearningRx Brain Training Reveals Hidden Genius Within San Antonio Teen

Six months ago 18 year-old Cruz Kirwan was like a lot of other high school seniors. He did well in school, played varsity football and basketball, and worked a part-time job on Saturday nights at the local rodeo. Today, that same young man is a genius.

Literally.

Last month, following a rigorous brain training program at LearningRx Northeast, Kirwan scored a 133 intelligent quota, or IQ score, on his post brain training reassessment. It was a 24-point increase from Kirwan’s initial test.

Cruz’s trainer at LearningRx, who assisted the teen through the often challenging brain training sessions, called Cruz’s mother to share the exciting news – her son’s IQ score ranks him among a specialized group of people with an IQ equal to or greater than a 98th percentile on an approved standardized test of intelligence called Mensa.

“I have always known that Cruz is very bright but I had no idea that he had this level of learning potential within him,” said Erin Kirwan.

Cruz’s newly-gained intelligence is a huge deal because Cruz wants to pursue pre-med in college. It is a large part of why the Kirwans decided to enroll Cruz in a brain training program at LearningRx.

“My husband and I want Cruz to have every opportunity to achieve his dream of becoming a physician,” Erin Kirwan said. Erin added that her son had always performed above average in school, however, his grades were often inconsistent. She attributed that to his A-D-D diagnosis.

Cruz was officially diagnosed with attention deficit disorder his junior year in high school. According to mom he seemed to do well enough simply using self-learned coping mechanisms and being active in sports. It worked until Cruz began to carry a tougher course load. That’s when he seemed to fall behind and struggled with completing his work on time. Cruz, at nearly 17 years old, told his mom that sometimes it was as if information just wouldn’t “stick” in his mind. The material made sense but he had trouble holding onto it.

In addition, Cruz was about to be the starting quarterback of his high school football team. Fast-thinking and strong logic and reasoning would be key for success at the position that requires making split-second reads of a defense and ultimate focus.

Like all potential clients who come to LearningRx, Cruz took

Amber revealed the discovery to Cruz himself at a meeting the following week.
