Owner of LearningRx Raleigh

Dr. Ana Starns

Center Owner

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Ana Starns, a Board Certified Cognitive Specialist with a doctorate in Transpersonal Counseling. My career has been shaped by a passion for helping students thrive, both academically and personally. With extensive experience teaching learners from Pre-K through the college level, I understand that true learning goes beyond academics—it requires supporting both the emotional and cognitive health of each student.

As a BCCS, I specialize in working with children and teens facing learning challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, and other processing or attention-related struggles. At LearningRx Raleigh, we take a collaborative approach, working closely with families to equip them with the tools their child needs to make learning fun, easier, and more independent.

My background in education, counseling, and business has consistently centered on empowering others, and I’m excited to continue this mission here in our Raleigh and Cary communities.

Jeanell Hargrove

Homeschool Community Support Coordinator

I have been a homeschooling mom for the past 18 years. Before beginning my homeschool career, I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and taught in private and public school. I enjoy helping parents find solutions for their struggling children, hiking, and spending time with my family.

Kaitlyn Downie

Certified LearningRx Trainer

I am a Certified LearningRx Trainer and a senior at NCSU, double-majoring in English and philosophy of law. Outside of normal coursework, I am a part of State’s English Honors Program and their English Ambassadors Program, and I’ve worked with a handful of NCSU’s student-athletes as a tutor. After graduating next spring, I plan to attend law school. In my free time, I’ve participated in a community theater for the past seven years and have acted in shows as well as volunteered as a stage manager and in makeup. I also love reading, listening to music, and playing board games.

Gabriella Gentile

Certified LearningRx Trainer

I am a Certified LearningRx trainer, and a graduate of North Carolina State University. I have two B.A.s from my time there, in Psychology and English Literature. I have returned to my alma mater and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work. I have lived most of my life in Sarasota, Florida then moved to Raleigh for college. It is so beautiful here, with a wonderful community, so I decided to stay. In my free time I love to cook, read, and spend time with my cat. During undergrad I played rugby, so I enjoy getting outside and practicing those skills as well.

Barbara Orton-Hull

Certified LearningRx Trainer

I am a certified LearningRx Trainer, a wife and the mother of three grown girls. I grew up in Northern New Jersey but raised my family here in Raleigh, NC. I graduated from Flagler College in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida with an education degree and have enjoyed teaching in the Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina school systems. I have also spent many years directing a childcare facility here in North Raleigh. I love to read, take long walks and spend time with family and friends. Exploring North Carolina’s beaches and mountains is also a big favorite of mine.

Carmen Regalado

Certified LearningRx Trainer

I graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Civil Engineering. I also obtained a Master’s degree in Wood Science and Forest Products from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (aka Virginia Tech, Go Hokies!!) I have two adult children, both of whom graduated from NC State University. Raleigh has been my family’s home city for 27 years. Most of my working years were spent in academic settings. I did spend a number of years being a full-time mother when my children were young and kept busy by volunteering at my children’s school and being involved in my home church. Traveling, reading, word games/puzzles and doing artwork are the activities I enjoy the most. I have been with LearningRx for many years now and find it fulfilling to help students achieve success in academics and consequently other areas of life.

Bethany Chapin

Certified LearningRx Trainer

I am a Certified LearningRx trainer, a wife and a mother to three adult children. The youngest of which graduated from Appalachian State University, which is also my alma mater. I graduated in 1990 with a BS in Criminal Justice and in 1992 with an MA in Agency Counseling.  I worked as a Substance Abuse counselor for several years and then discovered my passion, working with young children. I began teaching at the church preschool my oldest child attended as a way to spend more time with my children while they were young. However, as my children grew and moved out, I found that I longed for a new challenge, and took this opportunity to become a Brain Trainer. I currently enjoy spending time with my kids, both the two and four legged ones, reading and crafts.
