Back to School is one of the most exciting times of the year for students. With all the catchy jingles and commercials, clothing and supply sales, and open houses, the air is filled with the exhilaration of new beginnings. Back to School offers a time for reinvention–a chance to set the tone for the entire school year.
In my own childhood, the thing that was most exciting about going back to school after summer break was planning my outfits. I would try my best to match any new clothes to my backpack, pencil case, and pens, putting together a whole new aesthetic for each grade. I would set my clothes out the night before the first day, dreaming of how fashionable I would look while catching up with my school friends and meeting my new teacher.
Though some students approach this time of year with excitement, there are others who have challenges with cognitive skills like word attack, processing speed, attention, or memory, and these students can experience anxiety and insecurity during these first weeks or months of school.
At LearningRx, our trainers learn about your student’s goals, and then incorporate them into their individual program. In research studies, children and adolescents who completed a LearningRx brain train training program reported improvements in confidence. Giving your student the tools they need to succeed in an academic setting, along with the visible proof that they are capable of doing better, can increase their self-esteem and awareness of personal strength.
So if your student’s back-to-school eagerness is overshadowed by their fear of the classroom, LearningRx Shoreview is here to help them build the skills to become a more confident learner!
