Fun Logic Games to Build Reasoning Skills

Logic games are a great way to build strategic thinking and reasoning skills that are essential for thinking, learning, and problem-solving. Weak logic skills are a primary reason for learning struggles, particularly in areas like math and comprehension

Here are some of our favorite logic games to recommend to families looking to build this skill (whether you’re 6 or 96):

Set (Ages 6+)

Work against each other to see who can find the most “Sets”! A set is based on shape, color, number, and shading of each card, and each characteristic has to be all the same or all different. It’s a mental challenge for all ages that is great for building reasoning skills!

Spy Alley (Ages 8+)

This is a great game for kids and adults that builds reasoning skills and is different every time you play! You are assigned a “secret identity” and it’s your job to uncover the spy by following clues and reasoning your way through the game.

Qwirkle (Ages 6+)

This is a great game for logic skills as well as attention and visual processing. You work to match colors or shapes and see who can score the most points!

Blokus (Ages 7+)

Try to be the one to get the most of your color tile on the board—but they have to touch at the corners! This game builds reasoning skills as well as strategy, attention, and visual processing.

Mastermind (Ages 8+)

This is a simple, fast strategy game that is a best-seller for a reason! Take turns creating and solving secret codes to match a pattern and see if you can figure it out before you’re out of tries!

Fuzzy Logic (Ages 10+)

This game requires you to come up with clues to get your teammates to guess your word while hindering opponents! Logic skills are strengthened as you strategically create clues—without giving too much away.

Guess in 10 (Ages 6+)

It’s like 20 questions, but with a twist! This guessing game is perfect for kids and adults to build reasoning skills through guessing animals, jobs, sports, dinosaurs, and more! (Plus, you’ll learn lots of interesting facts while you’re at it.)

Dr. Eureka (Ages 8+)

This fun brain-teaser + speed game combo is a race to see who can create matching “formulas” in test tubes first! Everyone starts with the same arrangement of “molecules” and by mixing, matching, and pouring, you try to match Dr. Eureka’s formula first.

A Targeted Approach to Building Reasoning Skills

Logic is a critical foundation not only for learning in school, but also in thriving in real-world situations. Being able to reason through problems, think outside the box, foresee different outcomes, and recognize patterns sets you up for success in many areas of life.

If you feel like these skills are lacking in yourself or your child, brain training may be a helpful solution. At LearningRx, we target weak cognitive skills like logic, processing speed, memory, attention, and more to unlock easier learning—at any age!
