Bailey came to LearningRx Woodbury as a 17-year-old due to his many struggles. His parents had tried to avoid a diagnosis not wanting to label Bailey and preferring to address the root cause of his difficulties. They thought there was a good chance Bailey could be diagnosed with ADHD, and auditory processing disorder or dysgraphia.
His main struggles were with attention and focus, following multi-step directions, memory and executive function. Bailey’s LearningRx Woodbury assessment revealed weaknesses in critical areas like processing speed, reasoning and memory which were the foundational skills he would need to overcome his struggles.
One of his mom’s biggest fears for Bailey was around driving. Due to his slow processing speed, Bailey was delayed in responding to other cars in front of him or traffic signs. He was struggling to get his driver’s license given these safety issues and his struggles with test taking.
Bailey’s confidence was also very low. He would shy away from certain activities assuming he could not do it.
What Changed After LearningRx?
When Bailey started his LearningRx training, he took to it immediately! He worked hard and the changes they have seen and experienced have been significant.
His parents shared:
“Our son has seen so many improvements, I can’t list them all here, but I’ll highlight a few of the most important ones – many around improvements to his safety. His ability to focus, concentrate and processing speed could not be more different than when he started.
He’d been practicing driving for a full year when he began training and it was not coming naturally. His reaction time was slow and he’d nearly rear-end drivers multiple times each time he drove.
His processing speed improved so much that he was able to pass his driver’s test and drives safely and with confidence now.
He really noticed and commented several times this winter how LearningRx skills has helped him with skiing. Again, the processing speed helps him make split second decisions to help him move his body in coordinated ways.
In addition to the safety improvements that came with the processing speed improvements, I’ve noticed changes in his memory. I used to have to put sticky notes on doors or remind him often of the daily tasks he must remember as he gets ready for school.
Now, he doesn’t forget a thing, which is so helpful for him and allows him so much more independence.
He has been able to learn (and retain) so much faster and easier from schoolwork, to teaching himself to cook, to learning how to do his job operating rides at the local amusement park. It gives me and him confidence that he can learn to do anything now!
Prior to LearningRx, our son would also spend an extra 2-3 hours a week at school getting extra help on math assignments. This year he is passing Algebra 2 without needing to do hours of homework and without needing to go in to get extra help from the teacher. His grades have improved across the board. He’s always given 100% on schoolwork, but the grades NEVER reflected his efforts. His grades since starting LearningRx last June have improved so much throughout the school year!
We would 1000% recommend others to give LearningRx a try!”
What Was the Difference?
Prior to LearningRx, Bailey’s parents had tried so many other strategies including tutoring, school interventions, medication and counseling. Why did LearningRx training work where other strategies did not? Because our LearningRx Woodbury training addresses the root cause of these types of struggles vs. addressing the symptoms.
Bailey’s abilities and the trajectory of his life has completely changed due to LearningRx. He now has more options post high school and a much brighter outlook.
We are proud of you, Bailey!
