Sarah, owner of LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Sarah Eichsteadt

Owner and Executive Director

Educational Background:
Bachelors of Science – Intervention Specialist, Mild/Moderate (Ohio Dominican University)
Masters of Education – Curriculum and Instruction (Concordia University)
Reading Endorsement K-12

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
As an intervention specialist for 16 years, I had a deep passion for helping learners of all ages and ability levels grow and succeed. I was finding that the limitations in the classroom, due to time and curriculum, were not seeing the improvements I knew they had potential for. I was searching for ways to better address learning struggles. When I found out about LearningRx, it was “No Brainer: for me to pursue this. I made the decision to leave teaching for LearningRx brain training! I absolutely love that LearningRx is able to get to the root cause of learning struggles and then has the solution! Training the skills that it takes to read, write, remember, and think – not reteaching material that is a struggle. Finding out about the transformation individuals of all ages were making with Brain Training was so exciting and I knew it was
what I needed to be a part of!

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
I love that after the assessment we can tell families what the cause of learning or performance struggles is. Then to be able to let them know that we have the solution to those struggles is even better. It is incredible to see the confidence in all of our clients increase so much within just the first few weeks. I love the life changing impact of Brain Training on the lives of the clients and families we serve! It is amazing that we can help people of all ages and abilities!

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
The most rewarding part of this work is meeting families and growing relationships with them as they or their loved one navigates through the brain training journey. Watching individuals transform into confident,
motivated, and insightful learners and seeing them develop into their full potential is such a gift! Being able to walk alongside the journey and watch them grow and soar is quite special!

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
LearningRx is unique because we are not tutoring, we are not reteaching – we are training the skills it takes to read, write, remember, think, reason, and visualize. We get to the root cause of any struggles and the programs increase and enhance brain skills. We make learning and thinking easier and clearer!

Fun Fact About Me:
I love to travel! I have traveled much of the east coast. I love the beach and also the mountains of Colorado. My favorite travel destination was Iceland where I hiked a volcanic ice cave and saw the Northern Lights!

Yamene, staff at LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Yamene Ragunathan

Assistant Director, LRx Certified Cognitive Brain Trainer

Educational Background:
Master’s Degree in Business Management | Certified Cognitive Brain Trainer | Over 8 years with LearningRx, working with students ages 5 to 70

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
I’ve always been fascinated by how the brain works. My passion is helping kids and adults with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, speech disorders, and memory struggles like Alzheimer’s. LearningRx drew me in because it focuses on the root cause of learning struggles, not just tutoring.

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
I love seeing students strengthen their cognitive skills like memory, focus, and problem-solving, and watching their confidence soar as a result.

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
Celebrating those “lightbulb moments” when a student realizes they can do something they once thought was impossible is the best part of what I do.

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
Tutoring helps with schoolwork, and brain training strengthens how you learn for life. That’s what makes LearningRx so powerful.

Fun Fact About Me:
Outside of LearningRx, I enjoy meditation, reading, hiking, golf, painting, and spending time with my family!

Heather, staff at LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Heather Dunn

Director of Client and Community Engagement

Educational Background:
BA History, MS Counseling

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
I have been fascinated by the brain and our ability to train our brains to increase cognitive function and emotional intelligence for a long time. Working at LearningRx was a “no-brainer” for me as it fits so well with what I have studied and am passionate about.

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
I love building connections with the students and their families and helping them meet their goals, academic or otherwise.

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
It’s so rewarding to see the students grow in confidence even early on in the program as they meet mini goals and start to grasp how powerful and amazing their brains are.

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
LearningRx is different in the sense that we are able to give hope to families by helping identify the root of challenges rather than focusing on what their students can and can’t do. We all have skills to build and our approach helps normalize struggles and challenge areas, and helps build self-esteem in students.

Fun Fact About Me:
I love strength training and often use this to provide examples to students because they can easily understand building muscles in the gym. It gets them excited to understand how they can also build their brains!

Kitty, staff at LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Kitty King

Brain Trainer

Educational Background:
M.S. Family Relations and Human Development (now Human Ecology) at The Ohio State University
Former State of Ohio Licensed Social Worker

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
My passion is kids and helping them be successful so helping them learn better, faster and easier seemed like a great way to do this — and increase their self-confidence along the way.

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
Getting to know my students more fully so I can support them better and more effectively.

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
I get very excited when my student “gets” something. They often comment on my spontaneous outbursts of excitement and joy!

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
The model of LRX allows for trainers and students to work closely together so that the trainer begins to intuitively understand the strengths and challenges of the student and then build on that to make significant gains.

Fun Fact About Me:
I have been a member of the Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteer Program through Ohio State University Extension for 7 years.

Rachel, staff at LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Rachel Griffin

Brain Trainer

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
After learning about LearningRx, the various programs offered, and the role of a trainer, I knew I wanted to be a part of the team. Memory and Cognition were my favorite areas of study when getting my degree, and I have always gotten fulfillment from helping others. Combining those two things by joining LearningRx was a no-brainer, especially with all the fun games and cool people I have been able to meet!

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
What I really enjoy is getting to work with a fantastic team of people made up of the LearningRx trainers, students, and families. It’s amazing how much effort and care every piece of our little puzzle has when coming together to make a unique impact on each and every student.

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
The most rewarding part of my work has definitely been being able to see and hear the progress students make in real time. There are a lot of little changes that happen gradually, so it’s really cool to be able to look back at where students started and see what all they have been able to accomplish through their dedication and hard work.

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
LearningRx is unique in that the activities involved in training usually just feel like playing games. I think the element of fun really makes a difference when compared to tutoring. Often it can feel like tutoring only focuses on something that is difficult for the individual, which can feel disparaging when trying over and over again. Brain training generally recognizes the strengths
and efforts of a student even when tasks are challenging, and rewarding the effort. Making perseverance fun is truly a unique approach that I feel makes LearningRx a great resource and tool.

Fun Fact About Me:
As someone who grew up in the greater Cleveland area, I hold out hope that one day The Browns will make it to the Super Bowl (note: I did not say win, just makin’ it there). The odds are slim, and I may not see it in my lifetime, but… Go Dawgs!!!

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
I most enjoy getting to know what works for each student and coming to a deeper appreciation of our brains every day. It’s great to see people’s different strengths and just how awesome our brains are!

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
I love seeing a student do something they thought they would not be able to achieve. There are often moments where they will say that they’re unsure about trying something, but they surprise themselves! Watching students grow in confidence is one of the best parts of brain training.

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
LearningRx is unique because it gives people the tools to make improvements in many parts of life. By training the brain, students work on the skills that not only make learning easier, but parts of life that you might not even have considered to be related to cognitive function!

Jordan, Brain Trainer at LearningRx Columbus-Dublin

Jordan Birchfield

Brain Trainer

What Inspired Me to Join LearningRx:
Its unique approach to tackling cognitive deficiencies and accomplishing goals!

What I Enjoy Most About LearningRx:
The atmosphere! It is a safe space to build and hone skills. There is no shame in being imperfect, and a desire for personal growth is heavily encouraged.

The Most Rewarding Part of My Work:
As I’ve just recently begun client sessions, the most rewarding part of my time with LearningRx (so far) has been experiencing my personal progress in skills and finding hacks to make my life easier. I am excited to start helping others feel the same sense of pride.

What Makes LearningRx Unique:
Our approach; both the client and trainer are constantly engaged with the task at hand. In a tutoring setting, the student tends to learn from the tutor, then the learned concept is applied in a strict context. Brain training is a precursor to tutoring, if tutoring is even the goal. Our sessions allow for constant progress which can be applied in many aspects of life, academically or personally.

Fun Fact About Me:
I have two different colored eyes.
