Elementary Tutoring in Colorado Springs

When kids build a strong foundation of learning skills, they can discover new strengths and abilities. While elementary tutoring can help students familiarize themselves with school subjects, it’s not the only option in Colorado Springs. Brain training can activate their curiosity and love of learning!

At LearningRx Colorado Springs, we help every kid excel on their terms. We offer dynamic, one-on-one training in reading skills, math, early learning, and special education, with programs for ages 4 and up. Our brain trainers can also work with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, or other cognitive differences.

While elementary tutoring and brain training share similarities, there’s a crucial difference. Tutoring focuses on what students learn, repeating the same materials and lessons from class. Instead, brain training focuses on how they learn, helping students transform the way they think, study, learn, read, and remember.

For students who’ve had little luck with elementary tutoring, brain training can be a game-changer. Previous participants of LearningRx programs have reported strong results. Between 2010 and 2018, we surveyed training results from thousands of LearningRx students. On average, kids and teens who completed one of our programs reported improving their thinking and learning skills by as much as 3.7 years! Their parents also reported gains in confidence and self-esteem, as well as improved performance in school.

Understanding One-on-One Brain Training

What is brain training, anyway?

At LearningRx Colorado Springs, our training programs focus on improving cognitive skills—the core skills used by our brains to pay attention, apply reason, retain information, and employ ideas. These are skills like focus, working memory, and auditory processing, each of which has a key role in learning and thinking.

So, how does that work? It sometimes helps to think of brain training as personal training. It’s not so different from how personal training helps to strengthen muscle groups and improve physical abilities. Similarly, through brain training, learners aim to practice and hone their cognitive skills. When they improve these skills, they can improve their cognitive abilities, too!

For young learners, brain training is a great way to get mentally active and practice skill-building. That’s true for students who need support like elementary tutoring, but it can also be beneficial for those learners who need an extra challenge beyond school. We welcome students of all abilities for one-on-one brain training!

Elementary Tutoring or Brain Training?

Elementary tutoring has its benefits, but it’s not always a good fit for students. But what’s the difference between tutoring and brain training, and what’s better suited for your learner?

With elementary tutoring in Colorado Springs, kids can delve deeper into the material. It can help to fill the gaps when students have recently moved to a new school, or they’ve missed some classes. Tutoring re-creates a classroom environment, with a one-on-one focus.

But while tutoring focuses on what students are learning, brain training focuses on improving how they learn in the first place. With brain training, kids can work towards improving core learning skills. These are skills that help them read, retain information, process ideas, and apply new concepts.

When students don’t have a strong foundation of learning skills, school is often a struggle. Through one-on-one brain training, they can practice and hone core cognitive skills like memory, attention, logic, and processing speed. By improving these areas, they can become more confident learners and independent thinkers!

Our training programs are developed from decades of research and experience in cognitive skill development. Through intense drills, exercises, and games, we help students tap into their strengths and discover new aptitudes!
