Amy Rice
Center Director
I’ve been at LearningRx since March 2025. I have a bachelor’s in journalism with a minor in English, and a master’s in communication management. I worked at USAA for 25 years, where I served as managing editor and digital content team lead for most of my tenure. I’ve always had a passion for both learning new things myself and teaching and mentoring others.
I’m a Colorado Springs native who loves the area, the people and the weather. Since I retired from USAA, I’ve enjoyed taking care of my three grandkids, starting my own, successful Etsy businesses, reading, crafting and thrifting. I’m married to Kevin, who served 23 years in the Air Force and worked 17 years in civil service.
I’m very excited to start this new chapter of my life at LearningRx, where I get to share its passion and commitment to strengthening cognitive skills and making learning easier for families in our community.

Assistant Director/BRAIN TraINER
I joined LearningRx in July 2023 after working in the health insurance industry in different roles for over a decade. I come from a family of educators, which is where my passion for education and learning came from. I love working with the neurodivergent population and underserved communities. I consider myself a life-long learner and will be returning to school to pursue a degree in Psychology. I graduated from Pikes Peak State College with an associate’s in general studies.
I enjoy spending time with my kids and supporting their talents and interests. I love swimming and watching football. I collect all things Marilyn Monroe, and my favorite color is pink. I am a horror film fanatic, and my favorite horror movie is The Shining.
I value creating meaningful relationships with families and students here at LearningRx. I connect with our families and students by taking interest in their everyday lives. I help to create and establish a positive, family-like environment and culture at LearningRx.
Kim
BRAIN TrainER
I’ve been training students at LearningRx since 2004. I’ve also served in the role of Director of Training doing staff development and training as well as occasionally helping out at our home office with training or curriculum development. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Education from Regis University in Denver. Prior to my time at LearningRx I coached gymnastics, taught preschool, and worked in collegiate ministry.
In my free time I enjoy crafts, reading, and playing games. My husband and I love to travel, see an occasional musical, and watch sports together. We especially love the Colorado Avalanche!
I love working with students of all ages and a diversity of training goals. I really enjoy simplifying concepts and identifying the best way to help accomplish the unique goals of each student. I think the most rewarding part of training students is watching them develop skills and grow in confidence as they overcome difficulties and achieve new things.
Brian
Brain Trainer
I became a trainer at LearningRx in January 2019. I first came to LearningRx when I was in middle school, as a student. My father suffered from some significant memory loss and brain damage from a bout with bacterial meningitis, and the VA steered our family toward LearningRx. My father went through the program and saw remarkable improvement, so he and my mom went and sent my brother and me through the program too! Years later, I came back to become a trainer myself because the training made a strong impression on me and showed me the huge impact even a small shift in perspective can have.
I enjoy creative writing, playing online video games with my brother, and winning my family’s fantasy football league through nothing but sheer luck and gall. I love vocabulary, and I play the Wordle (almost) everyday, and I love teaching people just about anything I can.
I have experience with LearningRx games and exercises that goes back decades, and I’ve learned how to tailor each and every one of them for any student’s level of skill or difficulty. In training, I’m equal parts intense and encouraging, but I know firsthand how important it is to give students breathing room at the right times. Balancing intensity with support is crucial for any student to feel challenged but not overwhelmed, and my history as a LearningRx student gives me a unique perspective to do just that.

I joined LearningRx in April 2024 after working in education for nearly two decades. My experience as a public school teacher and an aquatic educator has granted me opportunities to work with students of all ages and backgrounds, including adults. I am particularly passionate about working with students with disabilities, students requiring behavioral or emotional support, and the LGBTQ+ community. Years of working as an English Language Arts teacher and reading interventionist in a Title I middle school have provided me with invaluable insight into underserved populations. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in Early Childhood Education from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado.
I enjoy HIIT workouts, sudoku puzzles, and snuggles with my dog. I love sports, especially swimming, college football, and supporting local sports teams. I have been a die hard Swiftie since 2006, and my favorite song is Long Live. I enjoy writing poetry and short prose, as well as creating mixed media art. I am an extremely picky eater, and my favorite food is cheese pizza. I collect tchotchkes, stickers, and fabric birds from Target. My two favorite movies are Stand by Me and Wicked.
I pride myself on building relationships and taking a genuine interest in my students’ lives beyond LearningRx. My approach fosters mutual respect and produces results. I make it a point to truly get to know my students while maintaining the intensity and fidelity of the LearningRx program.

I joined the LearningRx team in May 2024. I am a current student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My education has allowed me to gain insight in childhood development, learning and cognitive disabilities, and behavior. My studies primarily focus on disability, mental health and wellbeing, and intersectionality. I have also conducted research in both psychology and sociology fields. I am very passionate about working with students in diverse populations, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community and students with disabilities.
I enjoy virtually all forms of visual arts and crafts, but I particularly love coloring books and painting. I can also frequently be found watching movies. My favorite films are Beetlejuice, Forrest Gump, and all things Tim Burton. I enjoy playing card games and virtual games, such as Animal Crossing and Mario Party. I also love finding local small businesses to support and collecting trinkets or vintage magazines from flea markets.
I am very passionate about helping my students build their skills and gain confidence in themselves. I take a calm and patient approach, while also making sure to push my students to reach their goals. I always make sure to make LearningRx feel like a safe space to foster growth and positivity in the center.

I joined the LearningRx team in July 2024, excited to begin working with people one-on-one. I was beginning my junior year of college, studying psychology with a minor in counseling. I am still pursuing this degree and entering my senior year. I have learned a lot from my courses during my time as a student at UCCS, and I have learned even more by being hands-on with LearningRx students. Some relevant courses I have taken include personality psychology, ethics and values in human services, developmental psychology, culturally informed treatment, and clinical assessment and treatment planning. I have a passion for working with people and helping individuals reach their goals. I strive to work with empathy and understanding with each student, no matter their background.
I enjoy listening to/playing music in my free time. I try to practice my guitar as much as I can, as well as learn different varieties of genres. I love cooking, especially making old family recipes passed down from my mother’s Cuban heritage and father’s Italian heritage. The thing I enjoy most about cooking is making meals for other people to enjoy. Overall, I enjoy being able to make memories with people around me in my free time, and enjoy the moment before it’s gone.
At LearningRx, I’ve been able to combine my education and passion for helping others in a meaningful way. I’m skilled at building supportive relationships and creating a positive, encouraging environment for students. My patience and communication help students feel confident and motivated, which is key to their growth. Being part of their journey and seeing their progress is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I joined LearningRx in September 2024. I got my start as a teacher here in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson. I taught Middle School Social Studies, and loved getting students engaged with learning in unique and fun ways. I learned quickly as a teacher that kids need targeted instruction that gets them to think critically. But far too often, they’re asked to answer simple test questions that don’t engage their minds. My students were encouraged to ask their own questions and explore history through the eyes of their predecessors. Teaching a mostly military population also helped me establish great relationships with military families in our community. I could tell how proud students were of their parents, and I also quickly learned how tough it was for them to grow up while constantly moving around. Whether they were in my class all year or just for a short time, they all got the rockstar treatment while I learned just as much from their worldly perspectives.
Personally, I’m a high-energy trainer who enjoys learning as much as teaching. I firmly believe that students can teach us just as much if we just take the time to listen. I’m married to my incredible wife, Monica, and we have two lazy cats, Scout and Ash. I also work at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, where I get to spend a lot of time learning about animals and enjoying nature. If I have time for a lazy weekend, I enjoy all sorts of video games and I play Dungeons and Dragons with prior teaching friends. And if I’m ever listening to music, there’s a good chance I’m listening to The Beatles and other artists from the 60s.
I’m at my training best when I build a great relationship with my students and create a little friendly competition in our sessions. I think it helps us push our cognitive abilities to the next level. I enjoy getting to know my families and have loved training all of my students, who have ranged in age from 11 to 81. The most interesting thing about our work at LearningRx is that all brains can grow over time and you’re never too old to learn something new. I love pushing my students and giving them the confidence to move on to their next stage of learning!

Brain Trainer
I became a LearningRx trainer in September 2024 after undergoing an intense treatment for my traumatic brain injury. That experience, coupled with 10 years as a nanny and 5 years working with special needs kids has been invaluable to this job. I strive to make a fun and safe learning environment where I can both challenge and encourage my students in the way they receive best. Whether I’m working here, as a vocal coach or piano instructor, I’m passionate about helping people find what makes them tick. I love behavioral science. If we can understand how each personality works, we can almost always eliminate any argument. It’s incredible.
Saying I love to sing would be an understatement. I was made to sing! I also enjoy being in nature – hiking in the forests near mountains and rivers. If I’m in nature, I’m happy. I also recently rediscovered my love for playing basketball. I pride myself on my love for science and math, and I use it in everyday life like cooking. I smile when I paint or go out swing dancing! I enjoy listening to Christian artists, and I’m new to country music. I love the song, “Till You Can’t!”
My approach at LearningRx is to incorporate fun and creativity, and that helps me get great results. I delight when a student has a breakthrough in the program and their eyes light up. I love hearing parents’ testimonials about how their children are doing better in school or their confidence is soaring. My personal favorite is when they’re able to better communicate with each other in a loving and respectful way.
