Hello! We are Professor Somaya Malkawi and Professor Ahmad Amro, the owners and directors of LearningRx-Langley. Our decision to open a LearningRx location grew out of decades spent, between the two of us, working directly with children and adults whose learning, communication, and daily functioning were held back by underlying cognitive challenges. We saw again and again that families needed more than traditional tutoring or therapy alone; they needed a program that trained the core cognitive skills standing in the way of real progress. Our mission is to provide a supportive, evidence-based environment where individuals of all ages can build the mental skills to unlock their full potential.
Dr. Amro holds a PhD in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Florida and has spent more than three decades as Board Chair, CEO, and lead Speech-Language Pathology Consultant of his own clinic in Amman, Jordan, alongside faculty positions at the University of Jordan and Amman University. His clinical and research work spans neurogenic speech and language, swallowing, voice, and communication disorders in children and adults. His experience training and supervising other clinicians, combined with his focus on evidence-based, root-cause treatment, shapes the same philosophy we bring to cognitive skills training at LearningRx.
Dr. Malkawi holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences (Occupational Therapy) from the University of Kentucky and has spent over 17 years as a professor of occupational therapy at the University of Jordan. She now serves as Professor and Program Manager for the Program for Internationally Educated Occupational Therapists (PIE-OT) at the University of British Columbia and is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. Her career has focused heavily on children with cerebral palsy and developmental needs, from clinical practice to published research on participation, play, and quality of life in pediatric populations. She currently also practices as a pediatric occupational therapist in Langley, BC, bringing hands-on clinical insight directly into the center.
Together, our combined backgrounds in occupational therapy and speech-language pathology give LearningRx-Langley a uniquely clinical, whole-person approach to cognitive skills training, one grounded in years of academic research and direct client care.
