New Study: LearningRx Brain Training for Adults with Post-COVID Brain Fog

A new peer-reviewed study published in the international journal Brain Sciences highlights encouraging outcomes for adults struggling with post-COVID cognitive symptoms (often called “brain fog”) following LearningRx cognitive training.

Here’s what the research found, what it means, and what you should know if you or someone you know is still experiencing cognitive difficulties after COVID-19.

What Is Post-COVID Brain Fog?

Post-COVID brain fog refers to a cluster of cognitive symptoms that can linger long after the initial COVID-19 infection has resolved. Adults with brain fog often describe difficulties with:

Concentration & Focus

Trouble staying on task or filtering distractions

Memory

Forgetting words, losing track of conversations, or struggling to retain new information

Processing Speed

Feeling mentally “slow” or like thoughts are coming through a fog

Executive Function

Difficulty organizing tasks, planning, or making decisions

Workplace Performance

Reduced productivity, confidence, and self-efficacy at work

About the New Study

LearningRx Cognitive Training for Workplace Self-Efficacy in Adults with Post-COVID-19 Brain Fog: A Mixed-Methods Pilot Study

Published in: Brain Sciences (international peer-reviewed journal), April 2026

Who Participated?

Nine adults with documented post-COVID cognitive dysfunction participated in the study. Each completed 45–90 hours of LearningRx cognitive training, delivered remotely.

What Did the Study Find?

Participants in the study achieved significant improvements across several areas following cognitive training. Here is a summary of the findings:

Participant-Reported Workplace and Functioning Outcomes

  • Significant improvements in workplace self-efficacy (their confidence in their ability to perform job-related tasks)
  • Significant improvements in performance at work
  • Improvements in functioning at home.
  • Improvements in productivity at work.

Cognitive and Emotional Outcomes

Participants who completed LearningRx training reported improvements in:

Participants completed pre- and post-training cognitive assessments, and the mean gain in IQ score following the intervention was 10.5 points.

Why This Research Matters

Post-COVID cognitive challenges are not just frustrating; they can be professionally and personally debilitating. This study represents one of the few peer-reviewed investigations specifically examining cognitive training as a potential tool for addressing post-COVID brain fog in a workplace context.

The fact that it was published in Brain Sciences, an established international peer-reviewed journal, reflects the scientific rigor of the methodology and the relevance of the findings to the broader research community.

About LearningRx Cognitive Training

LearningRx is a brain training program designed to target the underlying cognitive skills that affect learning, memory, and performance. Our methodology works on the cognitive processes that support how the brain learns and functions, including attention, processing speed, working memory, reasoning, and processing skills.

Training is conducted one-on-one with a personal brain trainer, and can be delivered in-center or remotely, as was the case in this study.
