TBI Program in Woodbury

At LearningRx, brain training can train skills like memory, focus, and mental processing. Our training methods have helped thousands of clients, including clients with traumatic brain injuries (also known as TBIs). We now offer a dedicated TBI program, with training tailored to each client’s individual needs.

In research studies, past clients with TBIs have seen improvements after LearningRx brain training:

  • Between 2010 and 2018, we provided brain training to 386 clients with concussions and brain injuries. These clients improved cognitive function by +11 IQ points on average.
  • In one study, individuals with TBIs reported improved focus, mood, life outlook, relationships, and school/work performance after brain training.
  • In a separate study, 10 of 11 soldiers with TBIs made an overall recovery and improved cognitive function after completing a pilot version of our TBI program.

Our customized TBI program allows each client to focus on their specific needs and goals. This way, you or your family member can target specific abilities, such as long-term memory or concentration skills.

(Results based on studies and surveys of past clients. You or your child may or may not achieve the same results.)

How Our Brain Injury Program Works

Concussion & TBI Program for Cognitive Function

At LearningRx, we customize our brain injury and concussion program for every client.

This process starts with a discussion about the client’s history, challenges, and goals. We then conduct a Brain Skills Assessment to identify which cognitive skills are functioning at a high level, and which areas may benefit from brain training.

Following this, we develop a custom training plan for the client. This plan includes:

  • Which cognitive skills will be the focus of brain training
  • A step-by-step plan for training these skills in the right order
  • How challenging initial training sessions should be
  • Client-specific directives to enhance training sessions

When developing each client’s training plan, we can target specific cognitive difficulties. For example, if a client is having trouble remembering names or past events, we can emphasize long-term memory skills during training. We can also adjust our TBI program to accommodate specific challenges or difficulties faced by you or your loved one.

One-on-One Brain Training for Concussions & TBIs

The LearningRx method is rooted in more than three decades of brain training research and practice.

Similar to a gym workout, brain training is designed to push your mind to its limits. This level of intensity forces the brain to work harder, which encourages the brain to build new connections.

Core brain training principles that guide our brain injury program include:

  • One-on-one training sessions with a dedicated brain trainer
  • Progressively building skills in a logical, step-by-step order
  • Using repetition and intensity to strengthen targeted skills
  • Engaging multiple skills at the same time to build strong connections
  • Giving direct feedback, correction, and encouragement

Each client is paired with a dedicated brain trainer for the duration of their TBI program. As the program continues, the training plan can be adjusted to match the client’s progress and performance during training.

Using this approach, clients with brain injuries can work on cognitive skills through a highly structured and personalized training regimen.
