LearningRX

The Research Says….There is hope for those who have suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries!

LearningRx works with individuals of all ages and has helped many individuals who have suffered the negative impacts of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). It is common for those who have experienced a TBI to be told that once an you are 12-15 months out from the TBI event, this is your new normal. If your cognitive skills came back to previous levels that’s great, but if not you will need to cope with your new reality.

The research says this is not assumption or limitation we should accept.

In a peer-reviewed article published this past July in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, the results showed that the use of LearningRx cognitive training for individuals with repetitive concussions and mild traumatic brain injury is indeed promising and exciting!

In this series of clinical case studies entitled Neuroimaging and Neuropsychological Outcomes Following Clinician-Delivered Cognitive Training for Six Patients with Mild Brain Injury: A Multiple Case Study, researchers found significant cognitive changes, transfer of training to real-life benefits, and changes in the brain following 60 hours of LearningRx training for six patients with mild traumatic brain injury including repetitive concussions.

All cognitive tests showed improvement with statistically significant changes in long-term memory, processing speed, reasoning, auditory processing, and overall IQ score. The mean change in IQ score was 20 points.

Patients reported improvements in cognition, mood, social identity, work and school performance and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). With fMRI, researchers documented 10 significant correlations between IQ score and change in white matter structure.

This is more exciting news for individuals who are recovering from concussions, strokes, chemo-brain, or more serious incidents like motorcycle accidents.
