  • Kevin
    Kevin Brain Trainer

    Kevin attended East Carolina University where he majored in psychology and minored in biology. He is now getting a degree in Computer Science at Northern Virginia Community College. Kevin is conscientious, easy-going, and friendly. His hobbies include playing chess, video games, programming, watching sports, especially the nationals and the capitals, solving puzzles and spending time with family and pets. His favorite brain training activities include Visual Thinking and Reasoning Brain Cards. He would like to visit Europe one day, especially Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Wales, and Belgium. He grew up in northern Virginia and is also a student while working at Learning Rx.

    Irene Director

    Irene studied Business at the University of Maryland. She has a really positive, can-do attitude, loves to work with kids, and loves to help others. Her hobbies include decorating, biking, hanging out with her grandkids, and spending weekends at her friend’s farm. Her favorite books include Tuesdays with Morrie, Falling Upward, and The Slight Edge. One of her favorite movies is Ever After. Her favorite place that she has visited is Switzerland, and she would love to visit Italy and Greece. She was born in DC, and grew up in DC and Silver Spring, Maryland. Before working at Learning Rx, Irene worked in IBM technology.

    Nicholas Brain Trainer

    Nicholas attended college at Old Dominion University where he majored in Psychology. He is exacting, empathetic, energizing, and has an extreme love for learning.His hobbies include video games, running, and dancing. His favorite brain training activity is Reasoning Brain Cards. His favorite country that he has visited is Trinidad. He grew up in Herndon, and he also works at a restaurant.

    Katie Brain Trainer

    Katie graduated from Marymount University with a B.A. in Psychology with Early Education Emphasis. She received her M.A. in Multilingual/Multicultural Education from George Mason University. Katie was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She describes herself as nerdy, athletic, and a bookworm. Katie loves to play sports, like dodgeball and kickball, bake, and read. She is a huge nerd and loves going to comic conventions, and loves all things Marvel, Harry Potter, and Formula One Racing. Her favorite procedure to do with students is Reasoning Brain Cards. Katie is also a first grade teacher for FCPS.

  • Jiahui (Jeff)
    Jiahui (Jeff) Brain Trainer

    Jiahui graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a B.S. in Biology. He is currently a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill getting his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. His hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, going out for long runs and coding in Python. His favorite procedure to do with students is Reasoning Brain Cards. In addition to Brain Training, Jiahui tutors students in Organic Chemistry.

    Hannah Brain Trainer

    Hannah graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and a minor in Neuroscience. In my free time I like to crochet, bake, watch movies, play Animal Crossing, and hang out with my pet mouse, Zero. I was born and raised on Tangier Island, Virginia, but have lived in NOVA since college. My favorite thing about brain training is watching students get better and better with each session, and seeing them recognize their own growth and success.

  • Wendy Katz
    Wendy Katz Brain Trainer

    Wendy lives in McLean, and loves working with kids at LearningRx! She has Masters in Social Work from George Mason University, and a BA in Sociology from Hanover College. Her hobbies include singing at her church, reading, activism, and baking gooey desserts.

  • Margaret
    Margaret Brain Trainer

    Margaret's favorite part about working at LearningRX is connecting with kids and their families and seeing her student's progress. She is perceptive, creative. and kind, and loves figuring out innovative ways to keep kids moving forward in their training. She grew up all over the world and has always had a passion for helping others. Her academic, professional, and volunteer projects have focused on improving the lives of immigrant families, Latina girls, kids with learning differences or medical conditions, and youth in general. Margaret has an M.A. in community health education from the University of Maryland and a previous career in bilingual health communications at the Federal level.

    In addition to working at LearningRX, Margaret runs an interactive empathy-building program called Walk In My Shoes. The purpose of the program is to teach elementary school students about a variety of developmental challenges and learning differences so that they will kind to other students. The program increases their knowledge and understanding of different challenges, helps them build empathy and moves them towards positive action by brainstorming how they can help a friend. Margaret is also very active in her county’s special education PTA.

    She has a 13-year-old daughter and loves spending time with her family. Her favorite authors include Tracy Chevalier, Barbara Kingsolver, and Geraldine Brooks. Her favorite book at the moment is UnSelfie by Michele Borba.

    Maureen Loftus Owner & Director

    Center Story - Reston

    After a successful year in the Vienna market, I opened my second brain training center in Reston in January 2012. Having lived on the edge of Reston for over 10 years, I had many ties to the community and the surrounding cities including Great Falls and Herndon where my children attended many activities. During the nearly nine years, we have worked with thousands of families from the Reston, Herndon, Great Falls, Potomac Falls, Oakton, Sterling, Oak Hill and surrounding areas. I am an active member of the community holding board positions and leading annual award programs for the schools.

    Prior to opening her first LearningRx brain training center, Maureen lead several companies in the life sciences and financial technology industries. Prior to leading companies, Maureen provided management consulting services for over 10 years. Today, Maureen continues to consult for leading technology companies and provide contract-CFO services to smaller companies to keep her brain sharp.
