Irene Assistant Director
Irene studied Business at the University of Maryland. She has a really positive, can-do attitude, loves to work with kids, and loves to help others. Her hobbies include decorating, biking, hanging out with her grandkids, and spending weekends at her friend’s farm. Her favorite books include Tuesdays with Morrie, Falling Upward, and The Slight Edge. One of her favorite movies is Ever After. Her favorite place that she has visited is Switzerland, and she would love to visit Italy and Greece. She was born in DC, and grew up in DC and Silver Spring, Maryland. Before working at Learning Rx, Irene worked in IBM technology.
Katie Brain Trainer
Katie graduated from Marymount University with a B.A. in Psychology with Early Education Emphasis. She received her M.A. in Multilingual/Multicultural Education from George Mason University. Katie was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She describes herself as nerdy, athletic, and a bookworm. Katie loves to play sports, like dodgeball and kickball, bake, and read. She is a huge nerd and loves going to comic conventions, and loves all things Marvel, Harry Potter, and Formula One Racing. Her favorite procedure to do with students is Reasoning Brain Cards. Katie is also a first grade teacher for FCPS.
Kevin Brain Trainer
Kevin attended East Carolina University where he majored in psychology and minored in biology. He is now getting a degree in Computer Science at Northern Virginia Community College. Kevin is conscientious, easy-going, and friendly. His hobbies include playing chess, video games, programming, watching sports, especially the nationals and the capitals, solving puzzles and spending time with family and pets. His favorite brain training activities include Visual Thinking and Reasoning Brain Cards. He would like to visit Europe one day, especially Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Wales, and Belgium. He grew up in northern Virginia and is also a student while working at Learning Rx.
Margaret Brain Trainer
Margaret's favorite part about working at LearningRX is connecting with kids and their families and seeing her student's progress. She is perceptive, creative. and kind, and loves figuring out innovative ways to keep kids moving forward in their training. She grew up all over the world and has always had a passion for helping others. Her academic, professional, and volunteer projects have focused on improving the lives of immigrant families, Latina girls, kids with learning differences or medical conditions, and youth in general. Margaret has an M.A. in community health education from the University of Maryland and a previous career in bilingual health communications at the Federal level.
In addition to working at LearningRX, Margaret runs an interactive empathy-building program called Walk In My Shoes. The purpose of the program is to teach elementary school students about a variety of developmental challenges and learning differences so that they will kind to other students. The program increases their knowledge and understanding of different challenges, helps them build empathy and moves them towards positive action by brainstorming how they can help a friend. Margaret is also very active in her county’s special education PTA.
She has a 13-year-old daughter and loves spending time with her family. Her favorite authors include Tracy Chevalier, Barbara Kingsolver, and Geraldine Brooks. Her favorite book at the moment is UnSelfie by Michele Borba.
Nicholas Brain Trainer
Nicholas attended college at Old Dominion University where he majored in Psychology. He is exacting, empathetic, energizing, and has an extreme love for learning.His hobbies include video games, running, and dancing. His favorite brain training activity is Reasoning Brain Cards. His favorite country that he has visited is Trinidad. He grew up in Herndon, and he also works at a restaurant.
