Richard Abbey

Richard Abbey, PhD, is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist and psychologist with extensive training and experience as a clinician and researcher. He specializes in neuropsychological evaluation and treatment of children, adults, and seniors. Dr. Abbey is the director of neuropsychological services at Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic, located in Palo Alto, CA.

Dr. Abbey provides expert neuropsychological care for a broad array of conditions, from learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, and social communication disorder, to a variety of brain-related medical complications, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, cancer, epilepsy, and many rare health conditions. He also provides early detection of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other age-related conditions.

As a respected researcher and lecturer, Dr. Abbey has made multiple presentations at international conferences and has published book chapters and professional journals. His research topics include dyslexia, ADHD, quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) brain mapping, and neurofeedback.

Dr. Abbey completed his neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and he was formerly a faculty member as a clinical neuropsychologist at Stanford University. He is board-certified in neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and he is also board-certified as a diplomate in Quantitative EEG.

In addition to his work with LearningRx, Dr. Abbey is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Gibson Institute of Cognitive Research.
