LearningRX

How much does brain training cost?

At LearningRx, we are often asked, "How much is brain training?" Brain training is unlike other learning interventions and services offered in the education industry, which has many people asking this question. Through decades of trial and error, Dr. Ken Gibson worked to create a program to meet clients’ needs and help them grow the cognitive skills necessary to learn, think, and perform in life. He wanted answers to the question, "How can a bright child still struggle in school?" The answer? Cognitive skills. We aren’t taught how to learn and think about information in school, and that is where LearningRx steps in. We meet clients where they are in their learning journey and customize a brain training plan to fit their unique needs. Then we pair them with a brain trainer who will coach clients through their program.

So how do you boil down a program backed by decades of research that is unlike any other learning-based intervention, that is customized to fit every individual’s needs, and is one-on-one into a simple answer of price? Now you can see why this question is hard to answer.

Basic tutoring can range from $25-$100 an hour. Tutors specializing in a particular subject or learning condition are often at the upper end of that price range. The only real difference between brain training and tutoring is that brain training usually happens more than once a week, and usually, the program finishes after 4-6 months. Students using a tutor will usually meet only once a week. Still, they will continue to meet in many cases until they feel confident in their skills or until the specific class is finished, which means tutoring may consist of a few months to a few years.

During those four to six months at LearningRx, we narrow in on the skills holding clients back from achieving the results they would like to accomplish in school, work, or life. We start with a cognitive skills test to uncover what is causing the learning and performance struggles. Then we build a plan to work on these skills. Our programs work on making skills automatic so that these skills stick with a client in training and throughout their life. The intensity and one-on-one aspect of LearningRx brain training help solidify these skills and correct them if necessary. Once clients complete a program, they often discover how brain training has helped them learn, think, and perform in other areas of their life.

So how do you put a price on a life-changing program? That is hard to say.

Keeping in mind the price range of other specialized tutoring services, we average about $95/hour. All of our one-on-one programs are customized to focus on the cognitive areas that need strengthening the most. Among the 2,449 clients who came to LearningRx with learning challenges, the average gain was 3.3 years. Unlike tutoring that you might need to pay for year after year, brain training is designed to build the less strong skill(s) in 4-6 months, re-evaluate after the program and see if there are other skills that could use strengthening next. Many child clients of LearningRx have gone on to use the brain training skills they acquired in their adolescent years, in college.

We believe the brain can grow and change, which is why our company is dedicated to helping people discover the power and the opportunity of brain training. While tutoring may help, we want to get to the root of the struggle so people can break free from their learning, thinking, and performance hindrances.

Wherever you or your family is on finding a solution to academic and performance struggles, we want you to know that we are here for you. There are many options out there, but we believe LearningRx brain training can provide the necessary building blocks for the brain to succeed in any situation. If you have questions about our programming, reach out to a LearningRx center nearest you or contact us online.
