The study, which was published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, found that a diet high in salt may destabilize levels of the protein tau, a hallmark of dementia. Although researchers had previously believed that salt was causing dementia due to restricted blood flow, this new study from the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York found otherwise.
