Dr. Ken Gibson has held a lifelong passion for helping struggling clients learn faster and easier. He started his professional career as a pediatric vision specialist before discovering that brain training provided the greatest gains for clients who were struggling to read or learn. Dr. Gibson spent the next several decades developing programs to measure and train core cognitive skills, in the process training more than 1,000 professionals in education and psychology to use his techniques. In 2002, Dr. Gibson founded LearningRx to make brain training available to more families. Today, LearningRx is the largest one-on-one brain training company in the world, with approximately 80 centers across the United States and programs in more than 45 countries.
Kim Hanson is the Chief Executive Officer of LearningRx. She began her leadership role with the organization in 2004 as Executive Vice President and was named CEO in 2017. Her career passion is to help professionals, educators, and parents learn more about cognitive skills training and the dramatic results it can have on real-life performance.
Prior to her time with LearningRx, Ms. Hanson worked in education with second and fifth graders at several inner-city schools in Nashville and Minneapolis. She is Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) and is a graduate of North Central University in Minneapolis. Ms. Hanson is the proud daughter of Dr. Ken Gibson, founder of LearningRx, with whom she co-authored the book Unlock the Einstein Inside: Applying New Brain Science to Wake Up the Smart in Your Child.
Beyond the workplace, she currently enjoys mentoring high school and college students as they identify future career options. In addition, she is a vocal advocate for the civil rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Ms. Hanson has been married to Dr. Wayne Hanson for over 25 years and together they are busy raising their four children: Lily, Zac, Max, and Gracie. In her free time, Ms. Hanson loves creating custom pottery for family and friends. She also loves watching football on Sundays, as she is a diehard Green Bay Packers fan.
Dean Tenpas is the Chief Operating Officer at LearningRx. Mr. Tenpas oversees finance, human resources, technology, and the operations departments. Prior to his current role, Mr. Tenpas served as Executive Vice President. Dean, his wife Candy and their five children ages 8-17, love the outdoors and sports; with swimming and ultimate frisbee being their biggest commitments in recent years. They love hosting people at their home and living in the mountains of Colorado.
Lisa Juhl is the Vice President of Marketing at LearningRx. She began her career as an account executive at Focus Marketing, The Westport Marketing Group, and later, was recruited by Glendinning Associates, Inc., headquartered in Connecticut, London, and Paris. Glendinning was founded by the late Ralph Glendinning — the businessman, philanthropist, and author who is credited as starting the first marketing promotion company in the world.
As Glendinning’s Director of Promotion Services, Lisa was responsible for conceiving and developing national consumer and trade promotion programs for JW Marriott, Nabisco, Crayola, Hertz, and a host of Fortune 500 companies.
In 1992, she moved to Colorado and worked in various marketing capacities for Deluxe Corporation, the UCHealth Neurosciences service line, and the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. She has served as a marketing consultant on several boards in Colorado Springs, including YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, Court Care, and Community Prep School — all of which focus on building community services and improving the lives of children.
Outside of work, Lisa loves spending time with her children and family, entertaining and cooking with friends, photography, boating, and jet skiing. Having a long-held fascination with psychology and consumer behavior, she also likes to watch true-crime tv. (Popcorn, anyone?!?)
As Vice President of Support, Karen Anderson oversees the support of brain training programs and business processes for all LearningRx Centers and their owners. She began her leadership role in 2016, after successfully opening and operating two LearningRx Centers in Texas for six years.
Prior to LearningRx, Karen worked 20+ years for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a multinational information technology equipment services company headquartered in Plano, Texas (EDS was eventually acquired by Hewlett-Packard). As a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Information Systems Quantitative Sciences, EDS hire Karen into their Systems Engineering Development program.
While working at EDS and later as an HP employee, her primary role was as an Account Services Executive serving as a liaison between EDS and their clients. She was responsible for leading global teams to build, test, and successfully launch new or upgraded application systems for companies in the banking, telecom, and media/entertainment industries, including Cal Fed, Washington Mutual, Verizon, AT&T, Southwestern Bell Corporation, and others.
Karen and her husband Lee enjoy skiing and four-wheeling in the mountains of Colorado and spending time with their sons. She also loves to entertain out of-state friends and family members who frequently visit.
