Special Education Lesson Plans
 – The Corrective Alternative

Special Education Lesson Plans – A Wide Array of Resources
Special education lesson plans are in great demand by educators and administrators in U.S public education. During the last few decades, special education legislation has been expanded to require that more and more children with learning disabilities have more and more access to education opportunities in the public school system. Therefore, the developers of special education lesson plans, curricula, games, and resources often find themselves in the position of “just keeping up.”

With the shear volume of special education lesson plans on the market, the question becomes, “Do these federally-mandated resources really work?” Are these legislated programs really helping our special education kids?

Special Education Lesson Plans – Coping vs. Corrective Approaches
Special education lesson plans are very effective for special education students with significant disabilities. For instance, a blind child needs books and lessons produced in an interactive audio format to succeed, while a deaf child needs close-captioned media to stay on track. Over the last 20 years, these special education programs have shown wonderful results.

However, for over 80% of “special education eligible” students, the huge volume of special education lessons plans, resources, and programs don’t seem to be the long-term answer. For these students, “special education” means that that their eligible “learning disability” relates to a cognitive weakness at the foundational level of mental processing. Since most of the special education materials on the market provide “coping” tools for learning disabilities, over 80% of eligible students never get the “corrective” assessment and training they really need.

A catalog of special education lesson plans, games, and resources that help a student compensate for their disability isn’t the answer for those who struggle with weak underlying cognitive skills. A comprehensive cognitive assessment is the crucial first step toward awareness and treatment for a large majority of these students.

Special Education Lesson Plans – Cognitive Assessment and Training
At LearningRx, we understand the limits of standard special education lesson plans, curricula, and resources. We also understand that most “special education” students simply lack adequate processing skills -- the foundational cognitive tools necessary for learning. The great news is we have an answer for these students! Not only can we quickly identify and isolate deficient cognitive skills, we can target and strengthen the weak skills through our powerful, one-on-one, “brain training” programs. Unlike the standard catalog offerings that can help a student cope with a learning struggle, we actually attack the cognitive processing skills that are too weak for successful learning. Over the last two decades, our results have been tremendous!

If your child struggles with learning, whether labeled “special education” or not, we encourage you to schedule a no-obligation evaluation at a LearningRx Center near you. The traditional approach to coping and compensating isn’t the solution. Let us show you a dramatic alternative that will remove your child’s learning barriers for a lifetime!
