“When we started the LearningRx program, my 6-yr old son (who is in 1st grade) was below kindergarten level. My son hated school and didn’t want to do his work anymore because he called himself stupid and dumb. This broke my heart, as a mother, that my son felt like this. I had done all that I knew possible to do and nothing worked, it only made it worse. I took Garrett to be tested at a well-known tutoring center, and before they even finished the test, she told me they would not be able to help my son. I asked why. They said it was because he couldn’t work in a group of kids. This broke his heart and once again he called himself stupid. I was told about the LearningRx program by a friend, I called, and well! It has been great since! Garrett has accomplished so many things since we started the program – small to some, but all HUGE to me! He didn’t recognize his letters or numbers, but he can now put them together. He didn’t know his sounds before, but now he is sounding out words and trying to spell them. He could only count to ten before, but now he can count to 30. He hears words and tries to sound them out to spell, and he couldn’t do that before the program. In school he was making Fs on all of his tests and classwork, but now he is making As and Bs and his teacher has sent letters home saying how proud she is. Our goal is for Garrett to be able to read, and I feel very confident that if we stay on this path, he will! As I told Garrett, we are climbing a mountain and when we get to the top we are gonna scream! This program has changed my son and our whole family’s life. I thank God for finding Mrs. Walker and LearningRx.”

“Seeing your child struggle with school assignments when you know he has the abilities, is heartbreaking. Knowing that your child is so intelligent, but hearing from teachers and other students that he is slow and not keeping up with the class is frustrating. But noticing how your child’s self-esteem is declining because he now believes he cannot complete tasks is the worst. For my 11 year old, Geoff, standardized test scores were always very high, but his grades did not reflect his intelligence. We noticed his organizational skills were poor, and it seemed as if he did not hear everything going on in class. He would not get home with the needed supplies for homework or did not get the assignment written on his planner. The notes given in class were not always complete in his notebook. He got toe ht point of not wanting to even try things because he knew he could not complete them. Daily school homework took hours and we had to constantly refocus him to his task. The LearningRx program sounded perfect for Geoff. We were so impressed to see how fast Geoff completed the levels. We were made keenly aware of how distractable Geoff was.”

“My son, Ned, started attending LearningRx in November of 2008. He was struggling in school with his behavior and low test scores. He had been attending Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years and was also being tutored two days a week after school. I felt as if he couldn’t get his head above water, so I sought out a different approach for my son. We begain training three days a week at the LearningRx with Jeff, and over the course of six months I watched Ned grow in all aspects of his life. I saw his test scores gradually incrase, his behavior became more tolerable and his attention span also increased. This spring, when baseball season started, I watched my son with amazement as he was better able to focus on the baseball when hitting and catching. I want to personally thank Jeff for all of his hard work & continued patience with Ned! Thank you!”

“Our son, Robbie, has struggled with attention-related learning difficulties throughout his school years. We had him evaluated and it came back stating he has ADD. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to turn for guidance or help except for medication. We put him on ADD meds and this seemed to help a little, but it wasn’t enough. We received a flyer in the mail announcing the opening of a LearningRx Center in our area, so we brought him in for an evaluation and signed him up. Within three weeks, I noticed he was reading much faster and with more ease. He could finish a book in a couple of evenings that would have taken him several weeks to get through. He was able to sit down and complete assignments at home with a lot less tears. His teachers noticed an improvement in his classwork as well. He still has organizational issues, but overall there have been significant improvements. I feel LearningRx is an asset to our community.”

“Before coming to LearningRx, I didn’t too much care for work or anything that had to do with school. I guess you can say LearningRx has changed me for the better. Now I have more confidence in myself to do what I need to be successful in life. I have improved in so many different ways. My confidence has went up, my behavior, and focus. I really didn’t like to pay attention in class so I played around and goofed off. By going to LearningRx it helped me understand that by me not paying attention in class and not doing school work, that’s not going to get me nowhere in life. So I want to thank LearningRx and Mrs. Corliss for taking the time to put me back on track.”

“Before coming to LearningRx, I was on medication for ADD and was having a difficult time concentrating and staying focused on tasks. Just a copule weeks after starting my training, I stopped taking my medication and saw improvements in my daily activities. I am able now to focus on finishing a task once I’ve started it, and I can remember things much better now as well such as things I need to do or grocery lists. The most significant improvement I have seen is in my attention. Before going through training I had a hard time paying attention in class and reading required text. Now, after completing training, I am able to read and actually comprehend what I read the first time. I am also able to sit through a three-hour class and pay attention and stay focused the entire time. Thank you so much!”

“Our experience with LearningRx has been an overall success thus far. When we began, even the most simple task was a struggle. But as Brad has progressed through the program we have seen small but measurable changes in him. He seems more alert, attentive, and willing to cooperate – much more than before. I was wondering, at one point, when I would see a significant change, and it happened on a Monday morning. Brad was awake, dressed, fed himself breakfast, made his bed and brushed his teeth… all before I had woken up! Since that day we have been making progress towards our goals of a longer attention span, more focus, and overall ability to be successful. Thank you, Donesa, Tara, and everyone at LearningRx who contributed to our success!”

“Our daughter, Elize, is 8 years old and in the 3rd grade. After her first two weeks of school, Elize’s teacher expressed concern with her attention span and her grades and reading. We spoke with her school counselor, other parents and her pediatrician. She was diagnosed with ADD, but not given any medication. We wanted to get her the help she needed, but were at a loss for what to do. That week a LearningRx mailer came advertising the new franchise and free testing. I called right away. After testing, we were told Elize was behind in her reading and several other key skills. But, through this program, there was hope. After praying about it, we signed her up. It was the best decision we’ve every made for our daughter.

6 months, 2 trainers, 2 locations, and a lot of hard work were so worth enduring the tears Elize sometimes cried. She pushed through some tasks even I wouldn’t want to tackle. She has grown in so many ways. Her confidence level has increased immeasurably! She went from not wanting or really even being able to read a short story (and not meeting her school’s AR goal) to reading chapter books (and more than doubling her AR goal!) This child had problems communicating a simple story about who she played with that day at recess. Now, she can recall and “get across” a book she read months ago… and you can actually understand what she’s telling you! She used to leave us more confused after giving us her answer than if we hadn’t asked a question at all.

I used to sit and try to read with her and we would argue every time. She would guess the words after looking at the first letter. She wouldn’t sound ANYTHING out. She would beg and even argue to have me read what she couldn’t. I didn’t realize we somehow skipped teaching her how to sound out letterse. She didn’t have the skills I took for granted she had. This program is priceless. We would recommend it (and have) to anyone looking for help. Our daughter is a new person because of it. Thank you LearningRx!”

“Emmett was diagnosed with ADD about 3 years ago. We tried a few different meds, but didn’t get the results we expected. The last medication we tried made him feel bad, his cheeks flushed and his eyes got glassy. I was very uncomfortable with that. Emmett is very impetuous and acts before he thinks. That is one of the things I wanted this program to address. He also had no confidence and would always say “I can’t do that” or “I’m too stupid”. I think from the beginning I could tell a difference in those things. He’s also very timid when it comes to new people and different situations, but he has come out of his shell and interacted with his trainer like they had known each other forever. He’s working more diligently on schoolwork and shows more enthusiasm about finishing and getting it correct. I’ve also noticed him reading a lot more where he had lost patience and interest with that. He actually used his money to buy a children’s version of the book “Moby Dick” and read it in 2 days. He was so interested he couldn’t put it down. I think things will continue to improve as he matures and understands more fully why this program was important. Thank you all so much.”
