Learning Rx Comes to San Juan Capistrano Area
National cognitive training center offers cognitive skills training to area students
San Juan Capistrano, CA (Grassroots Newswire) 5-18-2007 - LearningRx, a franchise system of training centers that bring cognitive training to those in need throughout the United States, has just opened its newest location in the San Juan Capistrano area.
"LearningRx provides cognitive skills training that improve the brain’s ability to process information. It does for mental abilities what exercise does for the body," said Dr. Rahimeh Andalibian, owner of Learning Rx of San Juan Capistrano. "We are so excited to be a part of the community and assist parents and their children with programs that will ultimately help eliminate their academic struggles."
LearningRx S.J.C. is having a grand opening celebration on June 1st and June 2nd. The Mayor of San Juan Capistrano, Radio Fish, and Rx staff will be there to meet and greet community members. On June 1st, presentations will be offered at 10 am, 2 and 6pm. On June 2nd, presentations are offered at 10 am and 2 pm. The first 30 callers get a FREE assessment! Ribbon cutting ceremony, food, wine, and music will take place at 6 pm on June 1st!
LearningRx provides 12 to 32 weeks of intensive one-on-one training that helps children with learning or reading difficulties attend to and process information. It was designed by a team of professionals to target the causes of the problems, not the symptoms. According to Dr. Andalibian, the majority of children that complete the program improve 3 to 5 years.
The LearningRx training programs go beyond the symptoms of academic struggles to attack the root problem -- the limitations to the student’s ability to learn. The training enhances underlying cognitive skills required to learn effectively: auditory processing, attention skills, comprehension, visual processing, memory, and problem solving, said Dr. Andalibian.
"Cognitive skills are the essential, but often overlooked fundamental tools of effective learning. Learning is not about how much you know, but how effectively you process or handle the information you receive. Cognitive skills are the mental mechanisms that process incoming information," Dr. Andalibian.

About LearningRx
LearningRx traces its beginning to the work of Dr. Ken Gibson, a specialist in visual processing. Clinical data and experience was gathered through his own practice, preschools, learning centers, and private schools he founded. In 1985, he and his brother, Keith Gibson, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, hosted a symposium on learning in Appleton, Wisconsin. Gleanings from the many educators, doctors and professionals that participated in the symposium created the impetus that led directly to the development of the LearningRx cognitive training system. This system effectively uncovers underlying learning weaknesses and cognitive deficiencies. The weaknesses are strengthened through intense, one-on-one training. LearningRx Centers today help individuals of all ages and performance levels. Unlike tutoring or computer-based programs that focus on behavior management or specific academic skills, LearningRx provides cognitive skills training that improve the brain’s ability to process information. It does for mental abilities what exercise does for the body. For more information, visit www.learningrx.com.
