Homework Problems
Homework Problems - How can you curb the frustration?

Kendra was spending way too much time on her homework, having homework problems night after night. The West Des Moines LearningRx in West Des Moines, IA provided the help she needed.

"The program was easy and Kendra enjoyed learning with the staff. Great improvements were made!! Kendra spends less time studying (from 3 hours a night to 30 minutes) and is achieving better grades.

This makes for good family time in the evenings and allows her to have more free time. She is confident now, I love to see that in her."

Many students have homework problems. Does it seem that homework just takes much longer than it should? Are you or your child overwhelmed with a class load from your professors and teachers? Worse, do you notice that others seem to get their work done easily with time to spare, while you continue to struggle? Lack of focus, problems reading, and poor memory can all contribute to homework problems for both adults and children. Doing homework quickly and easily requires strong attention skills, fluent reading and a good memory. What if you don’t have those things? Are you destined to spend the rest of your life behind your desk?

If homework problems are frustrating you or your child, there is a reason why. Doing homework, although a breeze for some people, is a struggle for others. The difference is often based on your brain’s ability to use certain cognitive skills. People who accomplish their studies naturally don’t think about all the brain power that is involved in finishing all those assignments. Time management skills are needed to do homework – but even those are dependent on strong cognition. Your brain’s ability to process information correctly, so that you can read, comes from strong cognitive skills. Think of cognitive skills like pieces of a puzzle in your brain. If a few pieces are missing, or faded, the picture won’t look right. If some of your cognitive skills are weak, things won’t be as clear, and you’ll wind up “guessing at the picture” instead of knowing. If you are having homework problems, cognitive skills may be at the bottom of the issue. But there is hope. All of the problems described can be corrected with training. But first, you should take a cognitive skills test to determine which skills are weak.

Homework Problems: On the Road to Success
A cognitive skills test at a learning center can reveal which of your cognitive skills, if any, are weak. The source of you or your child’s homework problems may be revealed by this information. Better yet, the test is just the first part. A training program (brain training) can then be implemented to strengthen those weak cognitive skills. The result is a brain that learns easier, reads faster, remembers and comprehends more and focuses more easily. And when all those things are combined, homework problems will be a thing of the past. The road to success starts with a single step, and that step (for a person with the kind of homework problems described above) is cognitive testing.
