Q. What impact should I expect cognitive training to have on my child?
A. If cognitive skills weakness is at the root of your child's learning difficulty, the cognitive training will increase their speed and ease of learning.
We understand that parents come to our centers with many expectations. Cognitive skills training does frequently lead to increased academic performance, soaring self-esteem, greater trust and independence, higher confidence levels, and more peace and fun around the home. We celebrate these byproducts of training when they occur, and they do happen frequently, but we encourage parents to focus on the specific gains in cognitive ability that can be measured.
Cognitive Training – What can I expect?
You can expect the cognitive training to cause your child to gain proficiency in specific mental skill areas that were deficient prior to training.
You can expect those increased skill levels to make related learning tasks noticeably easier and more productive.
You can expect your child to enjoy the training (at least after the first couple sessions--many are still defensive at first, but quick, noticeable success wins their hearts and trust).
You can expect to be encouraged by your child's progress as the program goes on.
If children have a good support structure at home, are getting good instruction at home or in school, and enjoy succeeding, you can expect to see positive changes in their home, school, and public life, with far reaching potential for learning.
